Took the kids out to Sauve Island yesterday for tomatoes. Everything on the vine was still yellow, but for a dollar a pound, who’s to complain. We’d been out a week before with my dad picking blueberries. Xander found two frogs and a giant caterpillar nest which covered an entire tree. Most of the bushes were pretty picked over, but we managed to get about seven pounds worth, enough for ten jars of jam, one blueberry cobbler, scones and still some left over.
Made a super garlicky tomatillo salsa last night, should be good for grilling, but bad for kissing! Also began round one of canning tomato sauce- Everyone gets food for Christmas, that’s a good thing, right?
